Problem C - we need to demonstrate assurance to an external party
The standards and evidence tool is the ideal first port of call, to codify with evidence where the CCG actually is in terms of achieving the outcomes that should be achieved by good governance.
Given the need to provide external assurance, the observation tool would be useful to provide an independent view of the conduct of the governing body in session, but applied by external reviewers. The survey tool would also provide a view from both external stakeholders and the membership.
To establish an ongoing development plan, the above could be fed into a session with the governing body using the maturity matrix to agree the level of achievement to date, and the improvements that need to be put into place. The maturity matrix could subsequently be used in combination with any of the other tools to evaluate progress and any agreed milestones.
